So most of my class studies at the TCRC the "science library." I, however, learned the trick of the trade from my dear EM. We always gave her a hard time about her "pink corner," she had when she was writing her thesis, but honestly, if you're going to half-way enjoy studying, you have to like your environment. Lately, I've been studying on my back porch- it has been PERFECT outside. However, once it gets past 8, you have to bring it in.... so here has been my "spot" of late...
Key features:
*My JH blanket- anything Jackson Hole related makes me happy
*my other favorite blanket (the fuzzy green one)
*My yellow "Happiness" mug (complete with bottletree blend and french vanilla creamer)
*my big down pillows
*color color and color
Why would I want to go to the SCIENCE LIBRARY and sit in a cubicle?
I might seem crazy but sometimes you've got to do what gets you through.
Medchem down, pharmacology to go!

She says it best...
A dear friend of mine got engaged this past weekend. I fell down the hill walking to class today when he told me- literally. The past two years at Ole Miss have been so different without him... like something has just been missing.
Anyway, AK says it best (really, AK, so sweet!)- check it out:

dewwwww
It helps.
Kelly Bost, WHY WHY WHY did you get me re-addicted to Mountain Dew? After high school, I vowed to never drink my only beloved soda again (except on special occasions, of course). I had a mountain dew every single day for lunch. Since then, its been just water and green tea for me. This summer, however, my dear co-worker/boss kept diet mountain dew in the refrigerator. Just LOOKING at the runners who come in the store make you tired- so you naturally need a little pep--- hence the need for mountain dew. Now, I'm afraid I have re-discovered my love. At least it's DIET this time, so that's OK, right? --- cut down on sugar... but load up on those artificial sweeteners that are oh-so-good-for-me. (NOT).
But when you don't just love coffee (unless adulterated with french vanilla creamer and splenda, which isn't great for you either), you have have to turn somewhere...
So thank you mountain dew, and thank you Kelly. Here's to another!
PS- there's this super cool Irish song called "Mountain Dew" you can buy on itunes... (you'd have to know me well to appreciate this one). Emmaline knows it... don't ya Em? Bahaha- I like to do little my Irish dance to it.
LUCKY FOR YOU- I found it on Youtube...
Ok- so now that you think I'm super weird, I'm going to get back to medchem. I apologize for the delirium. Studying this much will do it to me. Ok BYEEEEE

rotten bananas
Isn't it amazing how your eyelids can get so heavy when you study, but the minute you close the book, your mountain dew kicks in almost immediately and you are suddenly filled with the energy to blog? Gosh, I just love that. Well- to my grand total of maybe 3 readers, I apologize for such gaps in my posts- I'm trying to "stay ahead" in school this year which is next to possible- but I'm giving it a valiant effort.
Tonight has been devoted to the studies.. but I would be lying if I told you I haven't taken very long and enjoyable study breaks:) Elena and I got Secret Mexican. I don't really think it's secret anymore... most people know about it- so if you don't, its the little Mexican place in the shopping center behind Oby's. It's SO fresh, with homemade chips and salsa. Go. We frequent there because it's right by my house.
What did I do before Pandora? Gosh I love it. I kinda defeat the purpose of having a "free and personalized radio station" by buying every song they play (and I like) on itunes. I sometimes wonder how my bank account dwindles and then I get my itunes receipt in my email. Oops.
The Go has been good... we've found that we have a recurring theme of rotten bananas... either we buy too many or forget we have them- so we have had to find ways to use them. With special props to Lana-lee, I will now share with you the Go's "What To Do With Rotten Bananas" or atleast what WE do:
Banana-Yogurt Smoothie (with hint of blueberry):
(The swirly-heart straw props to Beef from Valentine's Day 2010 at the Go- it made all the difference).
Banana-Walnut-Chocolate Chip Muffins:
Oatmeal-Banana-Chocolate-Chip Cookies:
Until next time (unless my Mountain Dew doesn't wear off or you'll get another post in a couple of hours),

We make banana bread (or I should say ELENA makes banana bread), too- but it missed the photo-opp.
I was going to be a super nice blogger and put the recipes, but most of these treats were made with the "little of this, little of that" method... If we get around to writing it down, we'll let you know:) The cookie recipe can actually be found in one of my June posts...
Anyway- if you have any brown bananas laying/lying (sorry I'm not sure which one to use- I'm not an English person) around, they can go to a worthy cause.

favorite
Today just so happens to be THE DAY of my favorite song. It's on basically every playlist on my ipod. I was fortunate enough to see Earth, Wind, and Fire in concert this summer in LR. They are SO fun!
My roommates and I say we would like to have a "21st of September" party... unfortunately it slipped up on us, so we are opting for baking cookies and muffins, enjoying the beautiful day outside, and Ty is making us a gourmet dinner( as you have probably read, my roommates and I cook a lot)- we are working on our domestic abilities. Nevertheless, its a beautiful September day...
So enjoy!
So, HAPPY 21st of SEPTEMBER TO YOU! Hope it finds your golden dreams making a shiny day...

do good.
Ok... Here it is... my long-awaited cheesy sorority post. I've put it off, but after today.... I just have to.
For the first time since May, I walked into the good ole Delta Gamma house. I don't know what it is about smells, but they just bring so much back to me. Songs will do it to me too, but smells REALLY bring back a lot of memories for me... especially the smell of the Deeg. Honestly, I could write for days on DG (here I go with a pref speech...), but I'll spare all of you. I always said "I'm so over it," but let's get real... everyone knows between AK, Jennifer Rose, Beef, and I, you can't get any more "hard core." I'm admitting and embracing it. Even after being in charge of Rush my Junior year and SWEARING I'd never care about sorority stuff again, I'm admitting that there is still a big piece of me living in that White House. I can't let it go.
Eva, James, and Lula are part of my family, Room 13 was once my heaven, and Fried Friday was the treat of the week. I woke up to Dixie every game day, went to sleep to AK tap dancing almost every night, and gained majority of my college weight from THE yogurt machine. I LOVE Derby Day, Anchor cake, and skit night, I'll forever be haunted by Stacy, and Eleanor Slaughter is my other grandmother. The White House was my home for 4 years... I literally lived IN the house Sophomore-Senior years... And it was oh so good to me...
Do Good.

porch perfect
There's nothing better to me than a great porch... front, back, upstairs, downstairs, wraparound- you name it, I love it. It's a special requirement for my "dream home". It is actually what makes my dream home a "dream." I wouldn't mind living in a one-room cabin as long as it has a porch.
Oh and I can't forget one of my personal favorites... the porch as Smith Lake- where I've spent hours telling stories, sharing life, and just loving on sweet friends, some who I only get to see once a year on our "lake weekend"..
AH LOVE!
In fact, Elena and I are on our back porch right now... studying of course, but still enjoying the porch (and smelling the wonderful scent of whatever the neighbors are grilling). I've decided that if I'm going to do this school thing, I've got to find the JOY in it. My joy in school right now is studying in a super comfy porch chair, vanilla latte at side, and frequent blog-breaks. Don't mind it.
HAVE YOU WALKED OUTSIDE LATELY? It's porch perfect.

NO-NOLA
Pre-TEST Prep:
So, it's September 10, and no, I'm not in NOLA. I traded in a night on Bourbon for a night in with my two lovely roommates, Father of the Bride, some vino, and a new purple shade of OPI. Yes, this is my after-test therapy (along with a good "emotional release"). Naturally, this includes updating my blog- especially since it's been so long!
Unfortunately I haven't had a very eventful two weeks...
The best things have probably been the food. Tyler made some yummy dijon chicken (we are still working on the "time to cook"), Elena went fancy on us and made some glazed salmon and orange broccoli, and Chad made us Kenyan Stew and Japati's!
Just look at that man doing work.
We've had 2 more Kapow episodes, survived a patho exam and a pharmacology exam, and are conquering our world ONE DAY AT A TIME.
So tonight is a well-deserved girl night. I'm going to return to Father of the Bride... it's at the part that always makes Tyler and I both teary... (when Steve Martin is reflecting back on Annie growing up). Bahaha we are so pathetic. Anyway, for all of you who haven't indulged in a super girly night in a while (assuming 99.9% of my readers are girls), you should definitely do so. It's just good for you.
Until the next study break,
HART
